Winter is coming. And, with the first snow fall last night, we were in the mood for some nice warm comfort food. This easy pulled pork recipe fulfilled our cravings – and we barely had to do anything to make it!

It’s no secret the Nugget LOVES pulled pork. It’s also no secret that the older Peter thinks pulled pork should NOT be done in the slow cooker or oven. If you remember from the past post “Pete’s Pulled Pork”, the elder Peter not only ate crow on that theory, but he also ate pulled pork that was cooked in the oven. So when we saw this super-easy crock pot pulled pork recipe, we knew we had to give it a try (and prove the older Peter wrong, again!)
Easy, delicious and very family friendly!
Here’s the recipe:
1 (2 pound) trimmed pork butt (pork tenderloin can be used but we can’t promise it will be as flavorful!)
(12 ounce) can of root beer
(18 ounce) bottle (or use the quantity to your liking) barbecue sauce
Place the pork in a slow cooker and pour the root beer over the meat. Cover and cook on Low for 7-8 hours, High for 3-4 hours or until the meat shreds easily with a fork.
After pork has cooked, drain and discard the root beer. Shred the pork and place it back in the slow cooker. Pour the barbecue sauce over the pork and stir to combine. Serve immediately or keep warm in slow cooker until ready to serve.
Serve on hamburger buns.
